truth. Bare bones, stripped down,
unadorned. There is no artifice,
no earrings or tattoos. No color-of-theweek dyed hair. There is tbe somewhat
menacing buzz cut, which he adopted
long before it was fashionable. The
demands of his chosen profession mandate that he be in top shape, which he is
- not an ounce of fat on hi 6-foot frame.
It gives him an angular, efficieJilt
demeanor. The incipient crow's feet
aroundhi~eyes belie his 26 years.
He has packed a lot in to those 26
years: two titles in his native Australia, a
disastrous 500cc GP ride with Cagiva at
the age of 20, more time back home; and
