Corns Photo by Dawn Winczewski BOULDER, CO, NOV. 21 The '1998 motocross season officially came to a close in Colorado as the Rocky Mountain Motocross Association hosted its annual yearend Summer Series Awards presentation and party at the Lazy Dog Sporls Grill. Wes Hale walked away with Rider of the Year and firstplace honors in the 250cc A class. A custom-tailored menu offered a variety of dinner selections and, while a wide array of video games and pool tables kept the younger motocrossers entertained, big-screen televisions aired tl,e latest in big-air motocross videos for everyone's dining pleasure. Following dinner and the election of 1999 RMXA board members into office, the awards presentation commenced, and recipients in each individual class received their honors. Double class winners included Ricky LaMontagne in the 50cc (7-11) and 50cc Open classes, and Adam Schafroth in the 125cc C and Open Beginner classes. Kirk Huff approached the stage tl1ree times, as he accepted honors in the 16- to 24-year old Combined, 250cc Band 250cc Sportsman classes. The Hiser family also got on the podium twice, as Blaine took home honors the 60cc (6-8) class and Lance accepted the championship in the Super Mini class. The big winIler was Wes Hale, as he claimed winning honors in the 2SOcc A class and secondplace honors in the 125cc A class, and was voted the RMXA 1998 Rider of the Year. Track of the Year honors went to the Yampa Valley Sportsmen's Riders Club for hosting two fine weekends of racing in Craig, Colorado. Results 50 (4-6): I. Travis McGray (KTM); 2.
