s ·Vict or y insurance f there's a horse in our yz stahle that continues to he annoyingly (for the competition) hulletprool and flat-out head an d har clamps above its rivals, it's the YZI25™. Hands down. No contest. And if the 'tZ125's winning status weren't high enough praise, we've now got a pair of hat tricks under our saddle to the tune of three consecutive . 125 West Regional Supen:ross titles and three straight "125 Bike of the.Year" (MXA Magazine). CaD us greedy, hut we'd kind of like to make that four in a row. So we put a caD intO our factory think tank, and let's just say we've raised the har-again. Intake and exhaust porting have heen reshaped and resized, as have the YPVS powervalve seal and carburetor, aD with the goal of delivering more mid-range grunt and enhanced high-rpm acceleration. Translation: An even broader powerha~ with on-tap, usahle power across the rev range. And to go with that newfound might are the ' same chassis upgrades that made their way onto the YZ25D: a new, lighter-weight swingann, revamped fork and shock intemals, aDnew rear huh, Excel rims and Dunlop 7395. A stronger engine in a lighter, more responsive chassis. Told you we were serious about making that four in a row. I e were ecstatic when Jeremy McGrath .won the '9 8 Supauass championship aboard his YZ25D, so we got to thinking: We need to make a statement And here it is: the newest, most-advanced, sharpest-edged YZ25D™ to ever hrandish the Yamaha name. We've retooled the engine from crankshaft to cyIi~ head, increasilqf the stroke to hoost Iow'and mid-range power for instant, comer-exiting rip. We've also adopted a solenoid-activated Power Jet carburetor for quicker acceleration and a new three-valve Yamaha Power Valve System (yPVS) that puts the snap hack into crackling-quick throttle response. And we've made sure that power gets to the ground eUortIessly through a smoother, stronger clutch and nevi, more precise three-har shifting assembly. Add to that a lighter, stronger swingann, revamped fork and shock intemals, a new rear huh, Excel rims, new Dunlop 739s and a slew.of other re~ts, and you'D hegin to see how serious our intentions are for the new year. And to think that Supermac won the SX title on our, well, "oIdgeneration" hike. Scary to imagine what you could do on the ...... aD-new 1999 YZ25D.
