By lap three, Keith Johnson had put the move on
Kellogg for first. With Keith Johnson ma intai ning a two- second lead, Karlsen and Isa iah Johnson battled close ly for third an d pulled to wit hin
two seconds of Kellogg in seco nd . In fifth and
only a w heel's len gth behind, Clar k lau nched off
the 9O-foo t table top alongside of Isaiah Johnson.
As Karlsen slipped out of the top five, Cla r k was

passed Isaiah Johnson on the last lap for thi rd .

chewing on candy and cru isin g aro und in ghos t
costumes, lo-year-old Mik e Alessi was on a d ifferen t miss ion, and that was to win thr ee Sepa·
rat e classes during th e o pen ing round o f the
Nigh ttime Contingency series at Starwest Cycle
Park.
Alessi took home $300 in conti nge ncy for his
wi ns this evening in the 60cc (9-11) and SOcc(711) di visions and the all-encompassin g Supe nnini d ivision.

the Su permini an d 80cc (7-11) classes as well
bu t, in terms of raw speed, jarrod Brown e ma y
have had the nigh t's fas tes t minicycle lap time.
A ha rd crash over the Whit e Brothers jump left
him sidelined for the evening after he won the
o p e n in g mo te s o f both t he 80 cc (7 -11) an d
Supermi ni events, however.

in the 125cc Novice cla ss a fter on e of the nigh t's
most excitin g battles . Cory Macom ber blas ted
away from the field jn the first mot o and sco red
w hat a ppeared to be an effortless w in , while
Ma tt Co ndon hel d o n for a stron g second in
fron t of Richie Ow ens. Th e seco nd moto turned
in to a barn burn er after Owens grabbed an early
lea d . Owens, however, co u ld not match pace
with eithe r Condo n or Macom ber a nd dropped
ba ck to th ird , whi ch se t up a p riva te du el
bet wee n Con d on and Maco mb e r that wou ld
rage the res t of the race.
