Howe ve r, the ir w ins did n ot co me easily. More than 600 rid ers came ou t for the two -da y eve nt. Satu rd ay was a District 29 race and served as a warmup for the next da y' s final round of the series. O n Su nday's fina l, Husq va rn a's Jim · eese grabbed the holeshot in the first 125cc Pro moto. Tim Hod ock held down sec ond a nd wa s follo wed b v Nathan Miller, Mark Wagner and Chu~k Shirley. Neese qui ckl y pu lled ou t a slig ht lead over the rest of the competi tion. Tw o rid er s on the move, recovering fro m ba d sta rts , w ere Jeff Gibson and Kevin Walk er. Both rid ers were qu ickly wo rking their way to the fro n t. Meanwhile, Hod oc k was .u nd er heavy pressure an d could not ho ld off the ad va nein g G ibso n an d Walk er. Mi lle r, meanwhile, cras hed, as d id Hod ock. At the midway poin t, the top five rid ers were Ne ese, Gibson, Walk er, Shirl ey a nd Ja so n Thoma s . Doug Stone wa s right there in sixth. As the race entered the final lap, it look ed as tho ug h Neese wou ld ta ke th e win, b ut in th e fina l quarter-lap , Neese lost the fron t en d and hand ed the lead to Gibson and seco nd to Wa lker. Neese recov ered in third , followed by Tho ma s, Ston e and Shirley. The second moto saw Robbie Horto n s n are th e hol esho t. Thomas, Gibson , Neese and Walker gave chase. Horton kept up his torrid pace, and as the white flag flew , Th omas tri ed to turn up the heat a nd force a mistake - but it didn't work. Hor ton held steady for the win . Tho mas took seco n d , with Nees e third . Gibson held on for fourth, while Walker rounded out the top five. Gibson took the overall win with his sco re of i -4, Thomas second wit h 4-2, and Nees e third with a 3-3. Th e 250c c B class b las ted off with We s McC oy g rabbi ng th e ea rl y lead . Josh Capps, Paul Justus, David Dunbar and Ned Blackwelder w ere tu cke d in forma tion behi nd the Suzuki rider. Capps and Jus tus were a p p ly ing hea vy pressure through la p one, and Cap ps m ad e h is m ove ; th e n Ju s tu s zapped McCoy as well . Justus kept his sig hts set on the front, but as the riders entered the second lap, Ju st u s took a hard ge t-o ff, kn ockin g himself ou t of conte ntion. McCoy th en slipp ed ba ck into th e ru nner -up positi on . Filling ou t the top five a t thi s point we re Jason La plante, Da rb y Fowler and Dunbar. Blackwelder se ttled into second , followed by Capps, Justus and Fow ler. McCoy estab lished a qu ick pace; th en Blackweld er mad e ano the r earl y mistake and slipped out of the top five. Neese leads the first 125cc Pro moto during the final round of the WintersiAmwayTeam Carolina Ultra Series. However, he lost out to Jeff Gibson .
