In winning, Jorgensen led th e crusad e sponsored by the Lod i Motorcycle C lub , whi ch r ai s ed a p p rox i ma te ly $3 000 for a c hil d re n's c h a r ily . Jor gensen eas ily w on the 100cc Pro race and also took home the top honors in the Andy Tresser Mem ori al 600cc Open A feature. "It was a good ra ce out there, a nd I' m g la d to w in the An dy Tresser Memorial 600 race," Jorgensen said. "I've won it the last tw o years now, and that ge ts me prett y excited ." The 100cc Pro main , wh ich featured many talented riders such as Rich Oliv er, Frank Nye a nd Rod Spe ncer, was a run away for Jorgensen, who lim ed the s ta r te r' s lig ht p erfectly to ace th e holesh ot ahead of the pack, and basically , h e n ev e r looked ba ck. Wit h th e excep tio n of a few riders, Jorgens en la pped the en tir e field - some of the m tw ice. "I'v e been kind of struggling lately," Jorgensen reflected of his win. "Rich (O li v er) ha s been goin g rea l good . I wanted to ge t off the line and pull a lead and keep it to the finish." Second -p laced rid er Rich Oli ver rod e sm oo th ly b ehind Jorgens en fr om th e start but was never quite able to cat ch the flying teen ager. "I had a g rea t tim e her e, and it's for a grea t even t," Oli ver said of his ru nn er -u p posit ion. "I look forward to this every year. Last year I got third , a nd this year I go t seco n d . M a ybe next year I' ll win th is th ing." A large fiel d in th e co m b ined A, Ba n d C Pee wee main line d up for battle on the big IT tra ck, but the ra ce w as qui ckly red -flagged due to a tree -t urn cr as h inv o lving Rya n Law a n d A lys s a Bri on e z. The two rid ers wer e up, but they were se n t to t he b a ck row on th e rest art . Anth on y Fong aced the holesh ot ahea d of th e fie ld an d began to open u p a sizable lead that he would never relinquis h. Mean while, Law blasted from last to third on the first lap' and then set his sights on Lauren Wa llace; he overpowered he r on th e th ird lap and moved in to seco n d p la ce for g o od, behind the flyin g Fong, in the race to the chec kered flag. Altho ug h he settled for second to Jorge nse n in the big 100cc main, Oliver also sco red mu ltipl e wins, the first com ing in th e O ver 16 main, where he finishe d ah e ad of Jeff Ga b ha r t a n d C h uc k Sorensen , a nd th e seco nd in th e Vet class, ahead of Bill Arbogast and Dor rey Ingo lia. " It rea lly feels good to come out and win on this track against the reg u lars ," Oliver said of his rivals. "Those guys go really fast on this track, and tod ay wa s no excep tion." Stewart Barber Jr. rode flawl essly in the Under 16 contest for his second win in a row on his beautifully prepared Suzuki. Barber paced him self consistently a head of the hard-cha rg ing Co rey Eaton and Dorrey Ingolia an d was never l~ serious ly challenged .
