Stacy Stewar t, rid ing a super-qu ick vint age Kawa sak i, wo rked his way into the lead for the Over 30 Expe rt wi n, but in the ea rly laps he was constan tly un der p res su re fro m a pair of Mateo-ridin g Int er med ia tes w ho refused to let h im p ull awa y . Ma rk Thon~ p s on an d Mike Q u ick trad ed mo to w ins in the In te rmed ia te div isio n, with Th ompso n bei ng the qu icker of the two in the se ond race. Next up was the large Over 50 crowd, with Ro y Ma ley win n ing bot h Int e rm edi at e mote s ah ead of Dan Beber's Husky, Kim Ar mstro ng 's Maico a nd Ra nd y Illg ' s Ca n -A m. H o we ve r, eve ry body was follow ing Wad e Sum me r as he effo rtlessly pu lled away to collect the O ver 50 Expert win on his Ho nda-ta nked Husk y. Winget collected seco nd in the first mot u w hen Thompson ran out of gas on the las t lap , bu t he chose no t to rid e the second se t of mo tes . With a lot ridin g on the seco nd race, Hard in was a bike leng th in front of a sn arling pack a t th e end of the firs t lap wh en one of those ha irball cras hes too k o ut five rid ers in a fast up hill swee pe r, Fortunately no one was hurt, bu t it sprang Hard in free for an uncontested sweep of the mot e s, wi th Charlie Spa nn nailing dow n second, Qu ick ta king third and Thompson earn ing fou rth . Mea nwhile, Roy Mal ey was co lle cting his sec o nd win of th e d ay , going 2-1 to wi n th e 250cc In te rm ed ia te class over Cam C regu ske and Joe Midd leton . Bernard Se leski, on a KX250, swep t another pa ir of motos to collect the Expe rt win , but he had h is hands full wi th the Ov er 40 In ter me d iat es w ho wan ted the lead position , Andy Hard in earn ed an uncharacteristic third in the firs t mo tu, behind Winget an d Greg uske, bu t he returned to his usu a l lead position in the second moto to na il.do w n the w in, Meanwh ile, it seem ed eve ryo ne else was co m bining a g rea t mo ta wi th a troub le ...filled set of laps. C reguske su rvived a cras h and the fa ct that his Ya ma ha died in the second mota to collect second overall via a 1-6 sco re.
