Hoover sucks it up in Vegas MX By Dick Goodwin LAS VEGAS, NV, OCT. 3 Nev ad a's own Donnie Hoover swept to the BOec Beginner-class w in a t Silver State Supt.'rcross Park, blasti ng his Ka wasa ki to double moto victori es and le~l vin g the others in his dust. After a restart due to a fau lty gate, Hoover dashed o ut to lead the first mot o of the nigh t's firgt race, jus t inches a head of Kyle Ames and Suzu ki p ilot Erik Hod ges . Ca~y Tobi as , Nic k Vernia and Bryan Wulf en stein wcre also in the lead pack as they slashed and di Cl d aroun d the first l~lp . The man o n the mov e was Scott Taack , as he wor ked his Honda through th e bed lam after a mL.od iocr e sta rt . By the end of th~ second lap, he had mu scl ed his way to th ird and wa s ho u'n ding Am es for the r un ner-up spot. Out fro nt, Hoo ver was stayi ng on the pipe and opening a larger a nd larger lea d wi th every lap. He wo u ld eventua lly win in a run a w a y, w h ile Taack cont inued his climb int o a solid seco nd . TIle wild battl e d uring the 1 lap was for third , .1st be tw ee n Wu lfe nstein, Ve rnia , Ho d ge s and Am es. Wulfenstein was -able to hold on for the fina l podiu m slot. Th e second- race sta rt was a flip-flop of th e first, with the red Hon da of Ames jumping out in front of H oover. Vernia , Ju stin H u nt and Bre nt Amato were close behind for positions thr ee through five. Ames and Hoover got o n the gas and started pullin g away fro m the rest of the pack while, once again, Taack was wo rking his way throu gh the ranks from behind .
