In the main event of the day, which pitted the best motocrossers aga inst the best Su permotard riders, Nicoll and his fellow mo tocross stars were beaten easily , wit h Belgian Eric Delannoy taking the win. With the 1998 motocross and road racing season all bu t over, attention has tu rn ed to the Int ern ational shows, and no ne is more p opular than the Mettet Superbiker event, Held in the small village of Mettet, this event usually attracts the elit e of motorcycle racing, although I 00 0\ 0\ ..... 00' C'l l-< OJ .c o ..... u o 22 (Above) Great Britain's Kurt Nicoll came out of retirement to win the MX Challe nge contest at th e Int ernationa l Supe rb ike r race in Belgium. (Right ) Forme r 250cc World champ Stefa n Everts was a li ttl e off th e pace, fin ishing fourth. He was, however, the top MXer in the Superbike fi nal, with a sixth-place fin ish .
