Dona ld Up to n led early in th e first '250cc Pro moto, followed by rooki e pro Bryan McGavr an , Billy Payne and Reynard. For a short spell it appea red that Up ton wo uld run away fro m the pack tha t is until Reynard kicked it into overd rive . Reynard cu t and carved his way by Payne a nd McGavran, riding pas t both rookie pros in what ap peared to be at least two gea rs higher. Reynard set aft er Upton and passed him for the lead a lap later. Upton further slo wed his pace a nd w as ca ugh t and passed by Payne. "I caught my foot in a rut and twisted it," Upton said.' Upton rode in pain the remainder of the race , holding on to third a t the finish behind Payne and Reynard . The. second moto saw the ro okies set the pace, with McGavran on his fou r-stro ke in contro l with Payne second. Once again, Reynard made it look way too easy and rode around Pay ne an d McGavra n in a few short la p s b efore roosting away for wh at appea red to be a n effortless win. Pay ne finished a solid seco n d b ut was a bo u t 10 seco nds behi nd Rey nard a t th e fini sh, w h ile McGavra n, Jere my Cha ussee and KTM rid er Kris Rou rke rou nd ed ou t the top five. McGavra n rebou nded for the 125cc Pro vict or y a fter swap p ing mot o w ins with Payne later in the day. Mike Young look ed blazin gl y fast all d ay long and too k his FMF Yamaha to a well-eamed third, while Tyso n Taylor and Donovan Mitchell round ed out the top five. Chris Sprenkel was the surprise winner of the 125cc Inter mediate class despue the fact that he looked a bi t un prepared with his electrical-tape numbers. Sprenkel may have been helped along a little, since some of the other top series contenders all encountered problems. Af ter what turned out to be a three-moto race (one mo to was run twice since half the field cut the track the first time arou nd) Sprenkel p roved he was indeed prepared an d wo n bo th motos in front of Cerri t Oredelman, Brian Bar ker and Dus ty Walt ers. Jamie Pamintuan and Jennifer "The Stun t Woman" Cap uto duked it ou t in the Wom en's class, with Pamintuan hav ing the edge after scoring both moto victories. Dawn Roger s was a solid th ird all day long, while Ambe r Pickett and style queen Shelly Danylo rounded out the top five. Team Suzu ki's Shane Bess moved up a n age g ro u p b u t , as ex p ec te d , his results were familiar, as he posted the overall victory in the 80cc 14- to 16-year old age gro u p . Bess beat th e Yamaha squa d of Ross Garcia, Billy Lanino vich, Mike Blose and Pro Circuit's Kyle Mac e. Team Green rider Mike Alessi flew in from the Branson Motocross Champio nshi ps th e morning of th e even t and N posted the second-moto victory in th e 60cc (9-11) class . Aless i,had missed the first moto and tha t left him fourth overall, finishing behind Jaim e Ca nza , Mark Prochelle and brother Jeff Alessi. Co le Seely seems to have found his niche in the 60cc (6-8) division by wi nnin g bot h mot os for th e third stra ig ht w e e k end .
