Battered an d bruised , Witmer maintained his
po ise when as ked abou t the situa tion.
" He (the o ther rid er) felt really bad a bo ut
coming acr oss into my line, but I'm just relieved
he's okay and I'm oka y," witmer said . "It co uld
have been a lot worse for both of us ."
Witmer rem ounted to back up his firs t-mote
win in th e Ov er 40 Exp ert class with a ha rd foug ht seco nd- mote wi n over Ron Down en and
Jim Nelson. Nelson was pumped for the opportuni ty to compete aga ins t the Na tiona l Champion, but he cou ld only pu t togeth er a consisten t
3-3 finish for the day.

him (Witmer) in the bac k section a nd then he got

With Witm er out of the ru nning for the Terry
Woosley Mem orial Prize, Tom Dretzka, backed
by Torque Center a nd Joh nn y V's Cafe, was in a
position to take the awar d . The only one left to
potentially challe nge him was Roy Na fzg er, if
Dretzka wer e to have major problems in the last
Ov er 35 Expert-class moto. Na fzge r ma y have
won the ba ttle by wi nnin g the St.
