' By Do n Schneide r BUCHANAN, Ml, SEPT. 27 ra d Strunk a nd Mark Bu rkhart were the overa ll winners in the 125cc and 250cc P ro classes , respectively , du ring round two of the AMA Fall Classic Series at the famous Red Bud Track ' N' Trail. Strunk, who is from Loveland, Ohio, put in consistent 2-2 moto finishes to take the top spot in the 125cc Pro class aboard his newly acquired F&SSuzuki-backed ride. "I have been away from motocross now for four years because of an injury:' Strunk said . " I am very happy that F&S Suzuki gave me this op po rtu nity to show my worth by taking care of some of th e expenses. This overall is pretty cool. It just p ut me in second in the series, a couple points behind Jim Neese (.75-73). To to p it off, m y third overall in the 250s is g rea t, too." Burk hart, w ho hails fro m Pinkerton, Ohio, took his Yamaha of Troy moun t to the to p o f th e 250cc P ro p odium by virtue of his 1-3 moto tally. "Th e starts are everything at this long and fast track," Baker sa id . "I go t caught up in some riders the first moto, and it was pretty tough to make a pass today. Finishing 12th wasn't w here I wanted to be." • Jim Neese took hi s new Husqvarna of High Point /Pro-Action Suspensionbacked TC125 to third overall witha 6-4 tally. " W e just got got the bik es, and George Quay a t Pro-Action d id up the s us pe nsio n and we are running th e motor box-stock right now," Neese sa id . " I was top-10 in the starts , a nd th at ' s excellent. I can't wait to get a few more ponies ou t of it - something like the Wo rld Championship bike. " David Oettel m a d e the trek from Ke nosha, Wisconsin, and finis hed in fourth overall wi th a 4-7 ta lly. The fifth s po t w a s t a k e n by To m Hofma s te r a boa rd his Banzai Racing-backed Suzuki RMl25. The Pea rl C ity, Illinois, residen t finis hed with an 8-5 tally. Finishi ng up with the ru nner-u p hon -ors in the 250cc Pro class was Plainw ell, Michigan, res id ent Da vid Gaylord . He ga ted no less than thi rd in both motos and ended up with a consistent 2-2 ta lly. Strunk came back in g rand sty le, takin g his RM250 to 3-4 mo to scores to garner third overall and thi rd overa ll for the series as well. Hofmaster was also a b ig-money winner on the day with his fourth overall in the 250cc class, which was one spot better than his 125cc Pro-class finish . Th e you ng 19-year-old rider's 6-7 moto performances w ere outstanding. " W e are o n our way to Tacoma, Washin gton, because of a personal invite for that $50,0000 aerial jump-off contes t ne xt weekend," Hofmaster said. "The money we just made will help us make the journey." His recent Western Fou r-Stro ke Nationa l Series eighth-place finish has given him a good sta rt on the Eastern Fall Classic and Eastern Four-Strok e Nationa l Series.
