events he entered at races held a t the Bass Island
Park in Ba ngor . The ha lf mile pea-stone track
p roved to be an awesome sliding track for
Crea me r, who wo n one Open Pro feat ure a nd
two 250cc Pro featu res · after 'not racing a 250 for
thr ee years.
The race weekend, spo nso red by United Bikers of Ma ine and Side ways Pro mo tions, was a n
AMA -sa nctioned event. Th e eve nts a re part of
the New Englan d Dirt Tra ck Series calenda r, and
they were almost lost to an offshor e hu rrican e. .
Af ter Sa turday's race was a washout, the
skies clea red early eno ugh on Sunday to hold a
double-fea ture event to make up for the lost day.
A sizable crowd of excited fans cam e to see a

Co ry Bauder, a professiona l racer on the AMA
circuit, made his stay in Minnesota a goo d one
as he too k hom e the wi n in the competitive pr o
classes a t th e Jo rda n Bud weiser Supercross at
the Scott County fairgro unds. Baud er, a resident
of Was hington State, also wo n the flashy jumpoff contest on his winni ng night.
The event attracted a total of 130 entrants, and
abou t 600 spectators mad e it out to the final race
of the 1998 series. Seri~nd awards we re given
o u t. including gift certificates from Belle Plai n
Yama ha, Cities Edg e Kawasa ki, It.'OS South, and
RBP. Pro moter Lee Th eis pu t on a good series
this year, an d he has ho pes of mak ing it a better
one in the future.
Before the drop of the gate in the heat race, it
was a mystery as to how the locals would far e
against Bauder, wh o was on a Lynwood Yamaha /O'Nea IlFM F-ba cked YZ250, but it took little
time for Bauder to show his skills as he' nab be
