They were followed by Va rnes and Da vis, with Moreh ead alrea dy havin g worked his way to sixth. Springsteen led the field off turn four an d had th e ad va ntage. but when they sho t down the front stra igh t, Parker pulled out and swung pa st , with Carr gett ing th e double d raft to lead them into one. Fay was already off the lead pace, but the 37year-old Washington 1T ace appeared to be having the time of his life aboard his borrowed Tim "Taco" Torrecillas-owned Turbo Blue Racing Gasolin e H onda.
