Acco rding to a sta teme nt iss ued by A MA Pro Racing, AMA Pro Ra cing board chai rman Mar k Tuttle has called for a co mplete r ev iew of th e events w h ich led to th e ca ncella tion of th e AMA Su p erb ike Nation a l at Rou te 66 Raceway in Joliet, Illinois, Aug ust 7-9. T u ttle has p la ce d em p has is o n approaching the cancellat ion from a forw ar d -loo king p erspective in regard to what mu st be done di fferentl y to move ahead. Tuttle request ed that AMA Pro Racing staff immed iately create a mor e p art ici p ativ e track-preview process in vol ving rid ers and team m an agers . AMA Pro Racing wi ll issue a report outlini ng this process in the near future, w hic h w ill for ma lize and ex p and th e ex isting track-preview policies. AMA P ro Ra cing ma y also ca ll on certai n teams and riders to support the trackpreview process by committing a small amount of their time to the effort. Road ra ce manager Ron Barric k has already cons ulted three top riders rega rdi ng the configuration of the road course at Pikes Peak Int ern ati onal Raceway, wh ere the ne xt round of th e se ries will be he ld, September 4-6, accord ing to the AMA . Barrick will also meet with several riders following the races at Pikes Peak to discuss th e cou rse at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the site of the series fina le, October 2-4. Ma z da Tru ck wi ll e n d up paying $100,000 in season bonuses to 125 and 250cc-class riders in th e AMA /Mazda Truck 125 /250cc Na tiona l Motocross Champ ions hip. So far, there have been two $15,000 pa yments - follo w in g the Ju n e 14 round of the series in Southwick , Massachusetts, and after the Jul y 26 rou nd in Tro y, Ohio. The final pa yment is sched uled to come after the season finale at Steel City Racew ay in Delmo nt , Pennsylvania, on Sep tember 6. In the fina l point tally, Chiodi finis hed out the ll -race series wit h 345 po ints , followed by Vu illemi n with 310. TM's Alessandro Pu zar finis hed third with 247, followed by Federici w ith 217 and Luigi Seguy with 155. Con ducted b y th e Australia Sports Dru g Agency, the tests were the first for local road racers since 1994. Motorcycle Aus tralia, the national sanctioning bo dy , says it will continue to per fo rm rand o m d rug tests in a ll forms of the sport in the future.
