As the rid ers finished lap o ne, it was Ca rmichael, Dowd, Brown an d Johnson. McCorm ick, Wev, Sella rds an d Button came n ext. Ferry and Reynar d were way back and working through traffic. Ferry's charge with Reyn ard came to an end as his bike sud denly sta rted sp uttering badl y around the tra ck. With the two -lap board out , Carmichael had 18 seconds over secondp laced Dowd . Reynard ' s charge would co me to a n end as Do w d had an unreacha ble dista nce over the Suzu ki rid er, and Revn ard had second overall locked up if h~ stayed in that position.
