But the wh ole w ee kend I ha ve been struggling in th e chi ca ne and in th e slowe r com ers of the circu it. Those are the places where yo u just can not ge t a Ducati throu gh at a fast-enough pace ." Despite losing to Chili for the second time, Foga rty was s till fairl y p lea sed w ith his results since it has mo ved him ba ck in to the title ra ce a fter his disappoint ing resu lts at the German and San Marin o rounds. "We changed the rear tire for the second race, a nd th at w ent a littl e be tter, but jus t like in the first race, the bike was cha ttering in th e front a nd the rear," Fogarty said. "This is the first tim e this yea r that we hav e en coun tered th at problem. I even had to cha nge my riding sty le a bit and ge t on the brakes earlier and gas it up earlier. "I haven't made many changes to the bik e since I was last on the rostrum. I enjoyed my dic e with Fogarty, but on this circui t it is very hard to p ass. I only hope th at I did not upset Carl too mu ch this afternoon." Edwards finished fourth . "I knew there w ere n o t too many places to pass around here so I just had to s tay uprig ht for th e last few laps," said Edwards. "I almost got it wrong at th e chic an e, w here I just w en t in too hard on the brakes. Before I knew where I was, I was through the sa nd . Fortu nately, I did n't lose a place." 'The bike is the best it has been this year and I hav e regained my confid ence, so the combination of bik e a nd rider is now mu ch stronger and it shows in the results." Corser finall y had to settle for seven th after stru gg ling for grip. "In the first race, we hadn't had the time to check out which tires were best ," the Au stralian explained. "As the Michelin guys knew that the track temperature would be a bit lower in the aft ernoon, they opted for a sligh tly so fte r tire . I thought I had the same as Frankie (Chil i) and Carl (Fogarty), but that was appar ently not the case . I sho uld have as ked before the sta rt... After five laps, the tire sta rted to slide. "W ha t a b izarre d ay," Sli ght said . "Two eighth places was enoug h to take the championship lead. That is unbelievab le. Especi ally as I though t my race was over wh en I crashed . I wa s so lu cky to have a machin e that worked so I cou ld finish the race." . .. . Russell came home ninth afte r having lost ground in the "Lavilla incident" earlier in the race.
