Jones on top at W~ite Sands Motocross By Malt Draper ASHLAND,NE ,JUN E7 FMF-backed Boome r Jones had just enough to squeak out a victory in the hig hly compe titive 125cc Intermediate class at Ashland , Neb raska's White Sands Raceway . Jones too k the win over FX Sign-sponsored Brad Hold ing an d iron man Don Bolte, who rout inely race fou r classes on s any Sunday. Last season , Jones mad e the move from the 80cc class loo k easy as he do minated the 125cc Nov ice class and jump ed quickly in to the Interm ed iate fray . [on es' speed and consistency is now sta rting to pay d ivid ends in the faster div ision. Iones took the first-mote win just ahead of crafty veteran Bolte, The pair engaged in close racing, much to the delight of the spectators lining the jump-filled circuit. Keeping an eye on t hem wa s Ho lding, wh o w ork ed t h r ou g h mechanical probl ems to finish third in the upen ing race. . The final mot a was all Holding , with Jones fending off Bolte for second . That wa s the key position, as j on es' 1-2 mad e th e grad e over Holding'S3-1.Bolte settled for third overall with a 2-3. In 60« act ion , sioux Ci ty' s Kyle Sa ndage sec u red the victory over frie nd ly riva l Ricky Draper. The two have battled rou tinely in preparation for the up coming NMA Ponca City Grand National Championship.
