Prineville Supercross
By Clay Light
PRINEVILLE. OR, MAY 3
Jon Thayer, riding a Yamaha, and Hondamounted jeremy Kendall were among the winners during the Amateur portion of the Northwest Supercross Series, held at the Crook
County Fairgrounds. Thayer topped the Vet
class, while Kendall's win came in 250cc Intermediate action.
Thayer went unchallenged to his Vet-class
win, beating fellow YZ pilot Dave Cheney.
Cheney and his brother Troy were the promoters of the event, and he got off the line last in the
main event and clawed his way forward. Trailing the Yamaha-mounted duo were Bill Kinney,
Mike Taylor and Rod Zobri t.
Kendall and Suzuki rider Chad Baxter were
the front-runners in the highly competitive 2SOcc
Intermediate class. It was Kendall, though, coming out in front of the mayhem to net a win. Baxter finished second, ahead of Travis Ceniga and
Marc Melendrez.
Yamaha rider Mike Bland, winner of one of
the two 125cc Beginner-class qualifiers, took
immediate control of the 19-rider final, followed
by Suzuki rider Josh Huerda, Scott Fisher, Sean
Light and Justin Harris. While Bland easily
increased his lead for the win, Huerda tried in
vain to close the gap but wound up taking second, ahead of Fisher, ~rody Baxter, Light and
Joe Licitra.
One of the day's top performances came
from KX60-mounted Jordan Mockridge in the
combined Supermini/BOec Beginner final. While
his brother Tyler Mockridge ran out front from
start to finish, the younger sibling carved
through traffic after a poor start to overtake a
multitude of SOcc machines to win the 16-rider
80cc Beginner class. Ken Hammontree followed
the Mockridge tandem to the finish, followed by
Allen Tompkins, Kolt Ceniga and Yamaha rider
Cody Sprague.

priately enough, off Tennessee Route 13 at the
far end of a dirt road. This place didn't serve
food, just drink. It was supposed to be the local
hot spot, but one rider said, "It looked like a
good place to get shot."

LANCASTER, CA, MAY 2
Team Green's Tim Langdon was definitely the
man to beat at round two of Full Blown Promotion's Saturday Night Supercross. Langdon
found the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds' hardpacked dirt to his liking. and he won both the
125 and 2SOcc Pro classes.
Danny Carlson put his Chaparral-based
YZ2S0 out front as the single-race 250cc Pro class
got under way. Chad Wollaston gated second
and found himself in the lead on the opening lap
when Carlson got out of shape in a long whoop
section. YZ400F-mounted Tony Sulek closed in
on Carlson. making it a three-rider battle for the
lead. Wollaston would lead the next six lap - up
unt.il the halfway point, when the riders are
stopped and then lined up again, with the leader
going to the back of the pack and given a cash
incentive to repass as many riders as he can during the second half.
Carison led Ty Kady, who was qwc.kly
around Sulek on the-restart. Langdon was up to
fourth, ahead of Mat Bateman and Brian
Sweany. Wollaston was picking off riders until
he connected with Langdon in a tu.m and went
down. Kady then pressw:ed Carlson for a few
laps before taking the lead. Langdon followed
suit, pushing Carlson back to third and setting
out after Kady.
Langdon was using every line on the track to
try to find a way around Kady, and he got a
brea.k when Kady bobbled in the whoops with
only a lap remaining. Langdon won the dash to
