Painter a wheel in the turns. On the second-tolast lap, he found a line on a double jump where he could stay low and get back on the ground before Painter. That allowed him to get his front wheel next to Painters' rear as they went past the white flag. Both riders realized the moto winner would be the overall winner, and they had the crowd hanging on the fence as Posey tried desperately to get around Painter. Approaching that last double jump, Posey played his ace in the hole - the line that kept his flight lower than Painter. As both riders landed from the jump, Painter still had the lead but Posey had the momentum. ·But the 40 yards to the finish wasn't enough for Posey to pull ahead. Painter squeaked across the line with the win a mere two feet ahead of Posey. Results Saturday ~ (0.6): 1. Landen Powell (KTM),; 2. Hayden Roberts (KTM),; 3. Dallas Ne,Jth (KTM); 4. The Over 35 contest was a thriller as Donny Banks held off johnny Borders in the winnertake-all final moto. Banks came away with a perfect score over Borders, while series leader Greg Lassiter had to settle for third place. Borders returned in the Over 40 class, where his 2-1 score earned top honors over series leader Warner Wilbourn. Kevin Mathews celebrated his 40th birthday by winning the first moto but was sidelined with mechanical problems ea,rly in the final moto. Billy Gree.n and jordan Meredith traded blows all day in 80cc 0 racing. The decisive m.oment carne in the final moto, when Meredith passed race leader Green in midair. Meredith's lead was short-lived, however, as he crashed where he landed. Green held on for the class win, over Eric Molletta, while Meredith remounted to claim third overall Robert Chambers had the initial lead in both Unlimited Amateur motos, only to see Gordon Waggoner go by both times for the wins. Waggoner returned to win the 250cc B division as . well, earning sufficient points to take over the series points lead in that class. Results VINT: I~ Benny Durrough (Mal); 2. Larry Stahl (Hus); 3.
