(Below) Shawn Baer (68) won the 85cc class over Jason lsennock (30) and zach Calculi (53A) at a short track held at the Trail-Way Speedway in By Bret Eckert SACRAMENTO, CA, MAY Scott Davis, from nearby Yuba Gty, took home the lion's hare of the money for the second week in a row in the u1tra-eompetitive Pro-Am class at KB Racing's Friday Night Supercross. The night's feature race was part of round MO of the five-round series sponsored by Carmichael Honda. Me Concepts and Racers Pit Shop, all local shops in the Sacramento area. Davis, riding a Suzuki this year with sponsorship from No Toil Lndustries and Andy's Moto, gated well in both motos and rode cleanly to claim back-ta-back moto wins. The wins didn't come without a struggle, however, as Racers Pit Shop-sponsored Oiff Cook on Yamaha's four-stroke ~onder bike, the YZ400F, pushed him hard in the first moto but could not make a pass stick a.nd settled for second. .. Ul the second moto, Cook had troubles getting out of tl,e gate and completed the first lap in dead last, effectively eliminating his chances for a win. Two other up-and-coming riders, jesse Dawson and Jesse Olson, kept Davis honest' throughout the seven-lap race. Racers Pit Shop/Guts Racing/jason's Bike Shop-sponsored Dawson rode strong through the first couple of laps, keeping Davis within reach, but as the laps began to take their ,toll, Dawson faded and Olson took over the number-two position. FMF/O'Neal/Bel Ray-supported Olson rode hard but could not reel in Davis. Davis' overall win puts him solidly in the top position with three rounds remaining. Olson's 3-2 finishes claimed second, while a 5-3 were good for third overall for Dawson. , There was other heated action in two of KB Racing's newly added classes for this year. The Schoolboy class pits 125cc riders who are 16 years old and younger in their own format. Suzuki-mounted Cassidy Staiford took the overall win over ~ /O'Neal-sponsored Ca~y Ahrens in the Beginner division, while ChriS MeAvoy on an FMF Suzuki claimed the Novice division. Also new this year is the 50cc PW /jR/Z class. This class provided some exciting batties for riders on Yamaha PWSOS, Suzuki jRSOs and Honda ZSOs.
