Patti 5dunxt1 (Hon~ Pierson prevails at East Bend Motocross By Skip Hogan and Greg Dexter EAST BEND, NC, MAY 3 Excellent track and weather conditions kicked off round seven of the U.S. Eastern Motocross :S,Pring Series. Matthew Pierson rode hard and ~on the 50cc (7-8) class, wowing the crowd by attempting "big air" doubles on his SOcc Cobra. The racing was intense, with full gates for nearly every moto. In the 2SOcc A class, Jamie Frazier showed everyone why he is leading the Spring Series points race by gaining an early lead and going on to win the moto and overali with strong perfonnances. Leading the way around the track in the Mini classes was 14-year-old Isha Wood of Waynesboro, Virginia. Wopd dominated the 80cc (14-15) and Supermini classes, showing his stuff by tripling a large jump that most of the 125 and 2SOcc riders chose to double. Unfortunately. despite an awesome start to .the day, the weather deteriorated rapidly, with thunderstonns rolling in by midafternoon. The heavy rain, accompanied by thunder and lightning, forced race officials to cancel the second motos for safety reasons.
