You'll have to forgive Honda's Miguel Duhamel if he never
learned the state flower either. He was, after all, pretty busy
righteously stomping the competition dl}ring the whirlwind
three-week, three-race AMA Superbike series in California.
It started at Laguna Seca 9n April 19th, when Miguel went
wire-to-wire aboard his world-beating RC45'" for his first
Superbike victory of the season. He only had to wait seven
days for his second. Because at Willow Springs he battled all
afternoon in a race where the leaders were never separated
by more than a few inches, taking the checkers in the closest
finish of the year. And before he could even catch his breath,
Miguel moved on to Sears Point. He took control of that race
on the fourteenth lap and never looked back, notching the
final victory in his sweep. On top of all this, Miguel also left
California the points leader in the 600 Supersport class. Ifhe
can keep this up for the rest of the season, he might end up
surprised by how many other state flags are checkered, too.
