Rick Doughty, who led most of the way, took his Maim to second overall in the I8-rider field, ahead of David Dotson. A first-time overall victor on theweekend was Arizona's Marc Pape in Sportsman 125cc ovice. Pape's 3-1 finishes gave him the tie-breaking edge over former mountain-bike racer Gavin Housh, who rode a Penton to a 1-3 score in only his third-ever motorcyJe race. Lanca ter, California's Ike Winchell (on a Montesa Cappra) put in steady 2-2 finishes to claim the top spot in Oassie 500cc ovice, edging the 1-3 day of AJS Stormer rider Eugene Crawford. His efforts were rewarded with a win in Classic Intermediate aboard a Saracen.
