FIM MOTOGP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
ROUND 4 / AUGUST 14-16, 2020
RED BULL RING / SPIELBERG, AUSTRIA
P70
Jorge Martin (88) won
the Moto2 race at a
canter from Marcel
Schrotter (23) and
Luca Marini (10),
but it was the drama
behind that was the
talking point. Enea
Bastianini (33) high-
sided out of turn one
on lap four, leaving his
stricken Kalex in the
center of the track.
Along came Hafizh
Syahrin, unsighted,
who hit Bastianini's
bike head on,
ripping it in two and
sending debris flying
everywhere. Syahrin
was transferred to
hospital suffering
hip bruising, but no
broken bones. The win
hoisted Martin to third
in the standings with
59 points. Bastianini
still sits second at 73,
while Marini still leads
with 78.
Even the racing
at the back of the
field was tight as
Alex Marquez (73)
gets into the side of
Bradley Smith (38).
