LORETTA LYNN'S
NOTES
A few days before the race, Ken
Roczen announced his was sitting
out the outdoors with health con-
cerns. His position on the Honda
HRC team has been filled by Chris-
tian Craig who struggled with the
mud and crashed in moto two, go-
ing 14-14... Joey Savatgy returned
to action following a heel injury and
showed good speed at times on the
JGRMX/Yoshimura Factory Suzuki.
He went 9-11 for ninth overall... Brit
Max Anstie finally made his HEP
Motorsport Suzuki Team debut
after getting injured just before the
Supercross series. He went 11-10
for 11
th
overall... Broc Tickle, who
is now filling in for the injured Aaron
Plessinger on the factory Monster
Energy Yamaha team went 15-13.
It was Tickle's first outdoor race in
three years... Mason Gonzales
was impressive in his Pro debut,
finishing in the top-10 overall in
MX2 on his Rock River Yamaha...
Stilez Robertson, the 2020 Nicky
Hayden Horizon Motocross Award
winner at the Loretta's Amateur Na-
tionals a week earlier, went DNF-17
in his Pro debut... Hunter Law-
rence DNF'd the first 250MX moto
with a mechanical and took 14th in
the second moto. His brother, Jett,
went 6-7 for sixth overall... Fans
were allowed but limited to 5000,
which was easily met.
Briefly...
different track," said Cameron McA-
doo. "It was a lot about managing
but also wanting to push forward.
(Left) Justin Barcia was buried in the pack in both motos after a bad start in the
first and falling in the first turn of the second, but he came through the field like
a champ both times for impressive 3-8 finishes (fifth overall). "I had one of the
greatest charges I've had in a long time," Barcia said. "I charged all the way up
to third but just ran out of time. In the second moto, I ended up going down two
times. I just used a lot of energy in that first moto and unfortunately, I wasn't
able to get back up to the front, seventh was all I could muster up." (Above)
Chase Sexton made his 450MX debut and he was super impressive! The
20-year-old was the top 450MX qualifier and was running third in the first moto
(after making five passes!) when he fell on the seventh lap. The 450MX rookie
kept it on two wheels in the second moto and got on the race podium in third.
Another question was answered at Loretta's (that maybe no one re-
ally asked): yes, the JGR/Yoshimura Suzuki's are fast. JGR's Fredrik
Noren nabbed the holeshot to start the 450MX season, while team-
mate Joey Savatgy grabbed the co-holeshot. And right behind them
was another bright yellow-mounted rider Max Anstie on the HEP
Motorsports Suzuki. So, you could say that 2020 outdoor season
got off to a colorful start.
