Jerry Wood will hold his next auction in conjunction with the AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days event at Mid-Ohio in Lexington, Ohio, July 10-12. Former motorcycle racer Robert Marsh was arrested on charges of possession of stolen property on March 20 after undercover detectives followed up on a classified advertisement for a 1995 Honda that was selling for $6000 despite having only 3000 miles on it. When detectives went to the San Antonio, Texas, address, they found the motorcycle to have a stolen engine - and they also discovered that the rental property was littered with cars, trucks, motorcycles and motorcycle parts, most of which were stolen, according to investigators. Pit Pro will be attending the World Mini Grand Prix in Las Vegas, Nevada, as the Dunlop, VP, N-Style and Sinisalo race support crew. They will also be at all of the CMC Spring MX Series races with accessories and technical su pport. Terry Kizer's 1993 Kawasaki ZX-ll set a new performance record at the American Motorcycle Institute's Brute Horsepower Shootout, held March 6 during Bike Week in Daytona Beach, Florida. Kizer's turbocharged ZX-ll produced 494 peak horsepower on AMI's Dynojet dynamometer. AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days West at Sears Point in Sonoma, California, will feature a vintage bike show on Saturday and Sunday, April 25-26. Saturday's show will be for American and European motorcycles, with Sunday reserved for British and Japanese bikes. All motocross bikes, however, can be shown on Saturday regardless of country of origin, allowing their owners to race them in Sunday's AHRMA Vintage Motocross. The lO-inch doll, new for 1998, is decked out in black leather, complete with motorcycle boots and the Harley-Davidson bar and shield. The suggested retail price on the doll is $149.95. Raceway in Rosamond, California, April 24-26. The race will be held in conjunction with the AMA/MB A Superbike ational at Willow Springs and is also a points-paying event for the 1998 Roadracing World 125cc Grand Prix Series. For the third year in a row, the AMA/WML Women's National Motocross Championship Series will debut with the AMA 125/250cc ational Motocross Series at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, California, May 9-10. The EBC i!rakes Pro Sport class has been changed to the EBC Brakes 126 HP class; and the Pro-Tek class has been changed to Pro-Tek 103 HP. The names reflect the maximum' amount of horsepower that is allowed in each class. Yahoo Internet Life recently gave Cycle NrnJs Online a four-star rating (out of a possible five) for content and presentation. "The best online source for racing events we saw was Cycle NrnJs, which offers enthusiasts timely racing results and news about the struggle between man, machine and macadam," Yahoo Internet Life said. Christen Cowan, the 1997 AHRMA Women's National Champion, is in intensive care at the John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek, California, after be.ing involved in a head-on collision on St. Patrick's Day. Noted Ducati engine builder Igor Gorodinsky, 39, was killed in a traffic accident in Overland Park, Kansas, on April 5. According to a report in the Boston Globe, Gorodinsky - a Massachusetts resident - lost control of his automobile and struck a utility pole. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Corona Extra, the third-largest beer company in the world, has signed on as title sponsor for the 1998 Supersport World Series, the 600cc Supersport class that runs in conjunction with the World Superbike Championship. The series will now be called the Corona Extra Supersport World Series. The series begins at Donington Park in England on Monday, April 13. Dirt trackers Steve Beattie and Jim MclIvena will be seeing a lot of TV time in Canada. The duo will take part in press conferences and track demos for the local newspapers and television stations to promote the upcoming rounds of the Canadian National Dirt Track Championship in Trois-Rivieres and Montreal, Canada. In order to entice even more American riders across the border to the events, promoter Buddy Ford is jacking up the purse to $10,000 U.S. and offering travel money to all Expert-licensed dirt trackers. Road racer Shawn Higbee was recently presellted with a gas tank signed by all of Buell's employees in recognition of his victory in the AMA Pro Thunder class in Phoenix in February. The win was Buell's first in racing against other brands of motorcycles. Buell Motorcycle Company founder Erik Buell and president Jerry Wilke presented the tanI< to Higbee at a company meeting on March 17. The tank will be displayed at Tilley's Harley-Davidson in Statesville, North Carolina. TT master Eddie Mulder will once again be promoting an AHRMA National flat-track event to be held in conjunction with the Corsa Moto Classica weekend at Willow Springs International Raceway in Rosamond, California. The race, which is scheduled for May 2, will feature at least nine different classes. Riders pre-entered by April 26 will be offered an entry-fee break of $45 for the first class and $30 for each additional Thousand Oaks Honda is offering a $3000 purse for Willow Springs Motorcycle Gub (WSMC) racers finishing in the top 10 of the 125cc Grand Prix "exhibition" race at Willow Springs class.
