SUPERCROSS TOYOTAITHORIPARTS UNLIMITED AMA SUPERCROSS SERIES HEATS (Left) Ricky Carmichael rode to his seventh straight 125cc Eastern Regional win and locked up the championship with one round still remaining. (Above) Casey Lytle (33) took the holeshot in the 125cc main and finished second in front of a determined Robbie Reynard (21). Ward settled for fourth, right in front of his Suzuki teammate Pichon. "I got a pretty good start and kind of closed my eyes and jumped that first triple and came out in third," Ward said. 'Then I was riding in second, and I was just fighting some of those little ruts and not riding real smooth. And then the two Yamaha guys got me and I said, 'I've got to calm down: and I calmed down and rode pretty good the last five or so laps." Craig rounded the first lap in sixth and eventually finished there, while LaRocco took seventh after moving up from his 11 th-place position recorded on the first lap. Button and Lamson fini hed eighth and ninth, neither of them quite able to make up for mediocre starts, and Dowd charged to round out the top 10 after falling on the third lap.I'N Silverdome Pontiac, Michigan Results: April 4, 1998 (Round 13 of 16) 250 HEAT:t (8 laps,]-4 transfer to main): 1.
