Lenaburg, Leach land Albany Supercross wins By Clay light ALBANY, OR, MAR. 8 Local professional riders Du ty Lenaburg and Ryan Leach clicked off some pretty impressive laps en route to tne 125 and 250cc Pro-class wins at the outdoor opener of the Albany Supercross, which waS the next-te-Iast round of the Winter Series. The 125cc Pro class had Kawasaki rider Lenaburg fending off all of KTM-mounted Cary Beyer's advances in both motos, with the best of the two motos coming~ in a second-moto shaotout. Beyer did his best to hold off the upand-coming Lenaburg, bul in the end the KX jockey relegated Beyer to second place. Beyer netted second overall with his consistency, while Yamaha rider Russell Chace, who ran strikingly close to the front-running duo, took home the third-place paycheck after 3-3 rides. Local rider David Germain and Central Oregon's Justin Homan took fourth and fifth overall. Suzuki-mounted Leach rode uncontested to the overall win in the 250cc Pro class, besting the field each time out. Homan, also riding a Suzuki, placeil second overall to Leach, while veteran Don Bisceglia placed his Honda into third overall after Kawasaki rider Robert Holtgrew unloaded late in the second moto. In the Over 40 Money class, another of the many closely contested races featured bar-tobar action between Yamaha rider Don Schneider and KTM-mounted Clynn Higgins. In the second moto, Higgins pushed Schneider for the entire contest - a contest which Schneider barely won, netting the just-turned-4o-year-old the overall win. Higgins took home second overall, while Honda rider Jim Lamkin, Milt Harden and Dave MerkJin rounded out the top five. . A crash-marred 80cc Beginner class had Kawasaki rider Ross Johnson posting a win in the large class, ahead of Joe Loiselle in the first moto. which also saw class points leader Tim Ricketts Jr. involved in a.crash. He eventually recovered to finish sixth and salvage the champion hip honors. In moto two, Johnson crashed, handing the lead to Loiselle, who in turn crashed. Cody Sprague was on the move and assumed the lead all the way to the checkers from there. Sprague's 3-1 earned him the overall win. Results P/W (r(KTM). P/W MOO (...), 1./• .-..1 Wood (KTMl.
