Yamaha's Jeremy McGrath
exclaimed from the podium to the
58,824 fans who flocked to the
Metrodome to see him win his sixth
Supercross of the 1998 season. And he
certainly wasn't kidding. After all,
McGrath has won every 250cc Supercross main event run in the Metrodome
since the tour started sweeping through
the Twin Cities in 1994. That's five and
cou nting, but this win didn't come easily for the speedy Canyon Lake, California, resident.
McGrath crashed while fighting for
the lead in the first turn of his heat race
and was run over. Subsequently, the
four-time supercross champ didn't qualify and was sent to his first semi of the
year, which he won handily. In the maID
event, McGrath came around in third
place en the first lap, behind Ke~in
Windham and Mickael Pichon, and With
steady pressure and persistence,
McGrath had the lead and the win in the
bag by the 16th lap. He had to ride very
hard for the win, which made the VIctory all the more sweet.
"It was a great race, and I've got
nothing but love here in Minneap?lis,"
McGrath said as fans swarmed him at
the Chaparral transporter. 'Tm pumped
