Flesia flies at SRAC Motocross By Stacy Jensen mWRADO SPRINGS, CO, MAR. 15 Warm temperatures - with lots of sunshine, even - brought the spectators out of hibernation in the Rocky Mountains for the fourth race of the Sports Riders Association of Colorado's MX series, which was held at Coyote Raceway, and Mark Flesia flew to class wins in the 250cc Pro and Vet Pro classes. The fir t Vet Pro moto saw Boo Stichter grab the holeshot and the lead, with Flesia close to his rear fender. Into the northeast back section of the track, Flesia tried relentlessly to make his pass, first on the inside and then the outside, making headway with small advances. Stichter hung in there until both flew across a set of dou· bles side by side and Flesia was able 10 edge by in a sweeping left-hander. Flesia then lengthened his lead through the newly placed whoop section. Flesia, Stichter, John Merwin, Mark Miller and lames Volmer were the top five rae· ers after the first lap. On the second lap, Merwin pressed Stichter and made his pass through the smooth rounded turn, setting his Sights on FIesia. Meanwhile, back in the pack. Campbell, who feU in the first comer, moved up from 14th to finish fourth behind Flesia, Merwin and Stichter. Darrell Miller rounded out the top five. The first turn in the second moto looked much the same as the first; however, Resia had the early lead and never gave it up. Stichter held second until the fourth lap, when Merwin gol by to take second for the remainder of the race. Campbell, who fell in the first turn again, moved from 13th to fourth, with passes being made on every part of the course. At one point, he flew over three riders on a tabletop jump which has a small kicker to assist with the takeoff. Darrell Miller started in fifth and stayed there the whole race.
