Reed and California's Bryan McGavran had a knock-down, drag-out battle in the first 125cc Modified Intermediate race. Reed sat in the pilot's seat for the greater part of the race; then the two riders collided near the start-line turn late in the race. "I hit a rock and stalled my bike," Reed said.
