with Gibson snaring the holeshot, followed by Lough, Skutnick, Shirley and RM-mounted Troy Crisp. Boruff went down early again and was relegated to the back of the pack. Gibson jetted away from the field and rode unchal1enged to the checkers, but a battle raged for the remaining positions. Lough opened up a slight lead on the rest of the pack in second, but-crashed out of the race while trying in vain to catch Gibson. Shirley then assumed the pursuit of the leader as he worked his way past quick-starter Skutnick. Shirl~y opened up a slight advantage on Skutnick, who was under heavy pressure from Newton and the hard-charging Boruff. As Skutnick and Newton battled over the position, they failed to notice . Boruff, who passed them both. Boruff tried to make a run at Shirley in second, but he had too much ground to make up and had to settle for third. Newton was finally able to work his way. into fourth, and Skutnick rounded out the top five. Action in the 250cc B class was very intense as newly mounted Suzuki rider Paul Justus proved he has made the transition from Yamahas quite easily and took a double moto sweep of the class. The wins, however, did not come easily, as Justus had to work his way past the hard-charging Nick McAllister and Kawasaki-mounted Mike Andrews in moto one. Moto two saw Andrews take the holeshot, with Justus in tow. Justus made a quick pass but A1)drews kept him honest most of the moto. McAllister recovered from a horrible start to secure second, and Suzuki rider Daniel Tesh rounded out the top three. As stiff as the com petition was, a couple of riders wer~ able to secure double class wins. Kawasaki-mounted riders Josh Summey and Gaylon Dickson were able to fend off all challenges. Summey r~eled off relatively easy wins in the 85cc (14-15) division over Adam Overcash and Nicholas Vargo. Summey had to work quite a bit harder for the Schoolboy wins, coming from behind and passing Suzuki rider Casey Barnes. Barl\e led early in both motos only to succumb to the pressure of Summey by the end of each moto. Nicholas Warner came back from a fifth-place finish in moto one to take the final podium position in the class with a third in moto two. Dickson took home his two wins in the Over 25 and Over 30 A divisions. In the Over 25 A class, Dickson topped 'tamaha riders Kirk Johnson and Sean Skutnick. Skutnick made Dickson really work for his second-moto victory. Keeping Dickson honest in each Over 30 A moto were Yamaha rider Chris Wagner and Suzuki rider Joel Baker. These two swapped finishing positions, with Wagner coming out on top for second over~L eN Camp Coker MX Society Hili, South Carolina Results: March 1, 1998 (Round 1) 50 (4-6): 1.
