27th ANNUAL World Mini Grand Prix THE 1998 TOP MOTOCROSS EVENT By Pott er H. Clark he 27th Annual World Mini Grand Prix will be presented in Las Vegas, Nevada April 15 through April 19, 1998 on a all brand new track layout. The track is located on the north end of Las Vegas and offers 100% viewing from the pits and convenient access to all the great entertainment centers and casinos the city has to offer. There are 33 different age and ability classifications presented for Pee Wees up through 125cc and 250 Pro classes and 30+B & 30+A. T GIANT PRO PURSE In addition to the $20,000 plus contingencies that the factories are offering the pros, NMA awards a $5,000.00 purse to the pros covering all four classes available and the 3O+A. The World Mini Grand Prix has always been the "showcase" for the uf and coming pros beginning with Jef Ward and up through McGrath, Windham, Lusk, Emig and other prominent riders on the na tional scene. FACTORY CONTINGENCIES Over $80,000 is being offered by the seven major motorcycle factories for the various classes. KTM, COBRA and ACTION are joining the award program with US Savmgs Bond awards for the Pee Wee classes. KTM will award a total of $9,250 in bonds to the littlest racers as educational awards for those finishing in the top five of each class riding the KTM50 and the all new KTM60 Jr. Cycle. ACTION is awarding $8,250 and COBRA has a $1,000 up for each of the 5 classes. In addition, over 25 of the top aftermarket companies will be at the World Mini Grand Prix with displays, awarding products and supporting NMA's racing activities. CLASSES FOR ALL In addition to .the motorcycle classes, both stock and modified for all levels of ability, there are classes for the 60cc and 80cc classes offered based on age groups. Gates will open at 8:00AM on Wednesday April 15 allowing the sea of motorhomes, vans, trucks and displays into the park. Post entries will be taken between 9:00AM and 4:00PM Wednesday for those who have not mailed in their entries. Practice for all classes will begin at 7:00AM on Thursday and run through conclusion. Racing will begin Thursday afternoon after all classes ha ve practiced. Racing will continue Friday at 7:00AM and every day through Sunday with the championship motos scheduled for Sunday, followed by the awards presentation. The Friday and Saturday activities will conclude in lime to allow everyone to enjoy the exciting Las Vegas night life. With the all new track facility and the outstanding contingencies, prizes and awards, this year's World Mini Grand Prix promises to be the premier event of 1998.
