PRESENT temperatures up to 36 d egrees: all of the sn ow was gone and a new course had been laid out. It wa s Gary Homonick getting away clean w ith the holeshot in the Novice class, followed by Greg Slezak. Bill McCarthy and Jim Kalman but Honda-mounted Kunte was providing mos t of the excitement. At the end of the firs t lap, Kunte went through the sco ring shed in ninth place. But he was a man on a mission, passing fou r riders on the second lap, which moved him up to fifth place. Then, on the third lap, he mane uvered himself around Dan Ell is and Kalman, moving him into third place. Kunte then set his sights on McCarthy, cutting him off in a deep ru t. Kunte then wen t right after race leader Homonick, who had found it smooth sailing out fron t all this time. By the end of the fifth lap, Ku nte took over the lea d and jus t p u lled away for a superb win. The Senio r B class provided some very competitive action. Bill Mosher p ulled the holeshot, w ith Eric Heinecke, Joe Arcesi and Dave Kanney in tow . Kann ey was the man wh o made the first move for the lead , but that was short-lived as Arcesi found a bu rst of ene rgy and shot by up the lon g straigh taway in to the woods. Arcesi and Kan ney traded positions back and fort h until Kanney fell, and an ever-consistent Arrest won, with a steady Heinecke finishing second. 2 nd The Annual SWUlY.
