After a mediocre start. Reynolds stead ily picked his wny through the very talented AA class and eventua lly crossed the finish line 40 seconds ahead o f Shaun Martin. Prior he avy rains forced the hosting Trail Rid ers of Housto n club to crea te several course changes before th e eve nt, bu t bea u tiful Texas au tumn weather p rovided pe rfect traction for the 169-ride r field , w it h loamy berm gra ss tracks, fun wood sections and a gnarly, rocky cree k botto m that provid ed excellent spectator entertainment on the 6.5-mile cou rse. Mean whil e, in the Overall A battle, Hond a of Houston rider Lynn Bailey and AI Cravens traded paint for the first two laps before a wild getoff by Cravens allowed Bailey to gain a lead that he w ould never relinq uis h. Closely following Cravens into the finish was two-time lSDE rider Manny Garza on his XR6OO. 10 the chase for the Overall B Championship, Mike Spohn. moving up after earning last year's Overall C Championshi p, staked his claim early ard looked to be firmly in charge. But hallway through the two-hour-plus-on e-lap race, Troy Barrows, Jos hua Laurence, Justin Goe rtz , Brad Thompson and Tom G ra n tha m m ade their cha rge after Spohn. Aft er so me close ra cing, Grantham pulled dear and emerged with a oneminu te cushion ard the Overall B trophy.
