1'£ ElROTI-IiSRS wheelie off the log . After getting the bike settled down for th e fir st jump, Soter rod e hard to make up for the time lost on the wh eelie. The effort paid off, but his run wasn't fast enough to beat Watson or Pinsonnault, and the Owings Mills, Maryland, resident took horne a third-place finish with his 9.0939-second run. "The firs t (ride) wasn't bad,n Soter said, adding with.. chuckle, nit felt all right. The second one, I don't know. It wasn' t fast enough... I lost. n 800cc Price had his nitro-burning Harley r olled in to the s tarting bo x a n d u p agains t th e log by th e Gerencer crew. Looking on, Lou Gerencer Sr. gave Price some last-minute suggestions as he threw his leg over the fuel-injected monster . Revving th e m o tor a few more times, Pric e's in tent glar e up the hill s eemed to lock o nto h is targe t a rea. C li ckin g off the jumps after a hard launch, Price's crowd-pleasing run was totally smooth - and fas t, as the clock would verify: 7.8751 seconds. nit felt like I was on air," Price said . Pau l Zander used the right side of the starting pit to get set up for his ride. , Blasting off the log 'on his BSA Zander used a lot of body English to coax his machine into the center of the hill an d clicked off a time of 8.6900 for his first ride. Zander returned to the pit knowing he had to shave almost a second off his first -run time if he hoped' to better Price's blisteringly fast run. With a n excellent launch, the BSA wheelied as it broke the starting light, though he was able to get the wheel back on th e ground, and he motored up the hill with a time of 85428 seconds. While it wa sn't nearly fast enough to beat Price, it was good enough to la n d him in second place on the day. . Rodney Williams launched his beaulifuI Harley-Davison from the center of the box on his first run, botincing off of each of the three jumps on their centers to card an 8.5469-second run and hold second place at th e end o f the first ro u n d . Williams' re turn to the hill p roved futile as the roaring Harley kicked out to the right off the sta rt. Quickly recovering, he settled onto the saddle for a nice, smooth ride, though it was slower than his first, at 8.6464. . nWe had two excellent rides today, " Williams said, also thanking his father. '~l couldn't ask for for any better rides." 01 Bushkill Valley Me /ll;l;l ~:> Bogesen ~--= llf!l -.pf'~ Mcm1I1~'5.1 CAYJ COme 0 J 7 /0D > ~ tr'oOl'o0I,!, pS!,!;!~ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ .-B- see Premier Racers anif tHe Newest Pffiifu ffi fffiiii Top- _ anUfciCturers!!
