IN THE WIND Pau l Zander (BSA) was the top 800cc rid e r at th e ninth round of the AMA National Championship Hillelimb Series, held in Middlebury, Indiana, on September 21. G lend al Pelly Jr. (H-D) was se cond and Bob Shreiner (Kaw) finished third. In the 540cc class, Scott McNeel y (Hon) wa s on top , followed by Mi ke Pul ve r ( H o n) and Paul Lowe (Kaw). Ter ry Rymer , Brian Morrison and Jehan D 'Orge ix teamed 'u p to give Kawasaki the victory in the 61st Bol d 'Or 24-hour endurance road race at Paul Ricard in the sou th of France o n September 21. Rym er held o n lor the v ictory desp ite tremendous pre~sure from M iguel D uHa m e l, who led the Honda rea m of Chris tian Levei lle and Will iam Costes to a second -place finish. Yamaha-mounted SIeve Hislo p, Chrisle r Li n d ho lm a n d A n dre va n d e r Boss he finished th ird. Newly crowned Wo rld Endurance C ha m p io ns Dou g Polen and Peter Goddard finish ed fifth on their Suzuki. Californian Jason Pridmore participated in his first Bol d'OT, teamin g with-Andrew Stroud and Brian Sampson , but w as a non-f inisher after the team's Kawa sa ki lasted for only 13 of the race' s 24 hou rs. The team of Donnie Book a nd Dave Ondas (Kaw) won rou nd three of the Best in the Desert Series, the Vegas-toRen o point-to-po int race, on Sep tember 19. Book and O ndas completed the 534mile course in 9 hours, 29 minutes and 24 seconds. Th e team of Ty Davis and Paul Krause ( Ka w) finis hed second overall, some four minutes down , after taking jus t ove r five minutes to replace a n ex ha us t pipe . Th e tea m of Jamie Campbell and Johnny Campbell (Hon) finis he d thi rd overa ll. Fou rt h overa ll an d firs t 250cc Pro fell to th e br o th er team of Nick an d Russ Pearson (KTM). Ty Davis (Kaw) bagged the overall win a t rou nd fo u r of th e AMA Natio nal Hare & Hou nd Se ries in Yerin gton, Nevada, on September 21. Paul Krause (Kaw) finished seve n mi nutes behin d Davis to secu re second overall. Donnie Book (Kaw) completed the Team Gr een sweep of the top three po sitions by finishing thi rd o ve ra ll and winn ing th e 250cc Pro class. . Trampas Pa rk er (Hsb) won the AMA Eastern Nati ona l Four-Stroke Motocross Series round in Danville, Virginia, on Se p te m be r 2 1, topping Ke lly Smith (Hbg) and Jim Neese (Hsb). Kyle Lewis (Suz) p ut together I- I mote s to wi n r ound n in e of the All-Ja pa n National Mo tocross Series on September 21. Jeff Matiasevich (Kaw) a nd Takama saga Takagi (Hon) fin ished second and third overall, respectively.
