JULY 16 Steve "M oon" Mullins posted the fast time and scored do uble wins at the Cahoki a Creek Dirt Riders night hillclimb. Becky Williams, the onl y woma n rider, claimed two class wins in the 85cc Youth and 200cc classes. Mullin fast time came in the Senior class, s where h e posted a come-from-behind Victory. Bob Fisher, rid ing for the firsi time since suffer- . ing se ason-interrupting injuries in July, had turned in the class leading tim e of 2.636 seconds on his first rid e on his big Harley, which was just slightly quicker than Mullins, who carded a 2.666 on his 1105cc Kawasaki . In the secondro und ac tio n, Fisher was even faster wi th a 2.5S9-second ru n, but Gayle Jenki ns was even fas ter o n his Hond a with a fine 2.542-second effort. Mu llins was up to the challenge, ho wever, as he flew over the 100-foot hill in a blistering 2.387seconds 10 lake both the class win and the Fast Time trophy. Tom Compton and Craig Def-lart turned in good sec ond-r ound runs of 2.607 and 2.659 seconds, respectively, on thei r Kawasakis to dose out the top five. Mullins a lso rode w ~1I in th e Open class, coming from behind again 10 overtakeFISher for the win. FISher turned. a fast 2.6S4-second time on his first -round ride on his Sportster to take the lead, ahead of Mullins. who stopped the clock at 2.872 second s. On the second ride, however, Mullins blasted over the top in 2.450 seconds to claim the lead . FISher also beat his first ride, but his 2.594-second time was just short of the win . Rand y Green carded a nice 2.61l-second time to take thi rd, and Tom Co mpton's 2.662.s,econd time was good for fourth. Ierrod Lindq uist joined the top five with a 2.862-sccond run. Williams, from George town , Illinois, had one of her bes t nights in hillclimbing . Her first win came in the B5cc Youth class, where her 3.462second ride on her KX80 in the second round overtook O ttawa's Jacob Bailey, who claimed the first-rou nd lead on his Yamaha with a good 3.831'"tieCond time. Jared Hayes delivered a nice first-round time of 4.156 seconds on his KXBO for third place and Opdyke's Riley Mullins claimed , fourth place on his Yamaha with a 4.69O-second RIDE!
