Th e Be lgi an go t b a ck up o ff t he ground to finish the day equal with the 1f top scorer, but the w inner's laurels went to the German, who thu s took his maid en 250cc GP wi n on home soil in his fina l ride for the Parno Ho nda te am before switching to the Rinaldi Yama ha team alongside Tallon Vohla nd for 1998. . The Californian, Vohland, ended the series sixth . A first-mota third-place fin ish h a d moved him a h ea d of jocke Karlsson, bu t the Swede reve rsed th e order agai n in race two wit h a fourth, as Vohla nd could not do better tha n sixth after a poor start and a mid race fall. Mike Brown ended his European GP career with a fifth in moto one an d a m ech anic a l DNF in mo ta two. The native of Tenn essee e nded the series 11th. 22 MorOONE Ever ts holeshot the firs t mota b ut Beirer was right on him from the word go. For more than 30 min ut es, the duo tore around the Gaild orf express wa y the Belgian as smoot h as ever and the Germa n as ou trageously ragg ed as ever. And "Pit Bull" stayed on the bike for the full .45 for once. (Lett) Belrer wound up scoring the overall victory via 2ยท1 scores. n marked the tim time that the German has ever won a250cc Grand Prix.
