Chiodi topped title rival Sandro Puzar by 40 points in the cha mpionship, 378-338. Puzar had hounded Chiodi through out the Season bu t scored fifth in moto one and d id not finish moto two, allowi ng Chiodi to cruise to the title. "It' s what I ha ve dreamed about," Chiodi said. "Wi nning has been possible in the past, but here it has happened." In the already -deci d ed 250cc World Motocross Cha m pions hip, new World Ch ampion Stefan Everts blasted to a I-I overall win as the series visited Roggenburg, Swi tzerland, on August 31, th e penultimate rou nd of the IS-ro und series . It was Everts' ninth overall win o f the season and his win total no w eq ua ls the number his fam ous fathe r Harry tallied in 1981, as we ll as brin ging him w ithi n one win of tying Sebas tien Tortelli's 10-race reco rd set in last yea r's 125cc cha mpionship. . "It's what I'll be go ing for in Germany next week," Everts said. "I have a lot still to d o this year and winni ng 10 overalls is one of them ." Everts ' wins w ere impressive to say the least. In fact, in the second moto he was in such a d ominant mood that he was cruising to an easy win wh en his mind drifted. " I had a little crash a nd Marnicq (Berv oe ts) nearly ca ugh t me. But I settled d own and made a good finish." Mamicq Bervoe ts was second overa ll on 3-2 finishes , w hil e Tallon Vohland was third after finishing 4-3. Eve rts now has 491 cha m pionshi p points, followed b y Bervoets with 349 and Pit Beiter, w ho was fou rth overall, with 312. Vohland is sixth in the sta ndings wi th 219 po ints. .
