fights to the flag in every Pro class.

red flag due to a multiple- bike pileup, Lang land

and Brad Letcher . Faulds wo u ld stick to Lan gland like glue for se vera l laps, untill Lan gland
increased his advantage, taking his first ma in of
the night. Faulds came across the line in seco nd,
follo w ed by Letch er.

with Zitu r after the flash of the green light, and
Zitur was Irnrnediately th rown to the gro und .
The next attem p t got off withou t a hitch as
Hofmeister raeed into th e first turn, with Zitu r,
Miller , Lang land and the rest of the pa ck in hot
pu rsu it. Zitu r us ed an ins ide line in tum four
and sped past Hofm eister as th ey ra ced down
th e fro n t straigh t. Zitur and Hofm eister soon
broke away from the rest of the field and would
finish in tha t order. The win was Zitu r's seco nd
of the season .
"I go t kind of tired towa rd the end ," Zitur
said. "Billy (H ofmeister } and I raced each othe-r
here before. These cus hion tracks really suit my
riding style, bu t there are no t too man y around
th ese days."
Langland w as a warded third wh en Miller
dropped out o f con tentio n with three laps to go.
Firs t-year Pro-Am Marcus Bauer turn ed in a season-best perfo rm an ce by finish ing a solid fou rth
place, and he later explained his perfo rmance.

Buck pulled the trigger quickest and would
lead Anth on y Bonello, Kris Blomdahl and Brian
Sherred as the first moto got under way . Blumdahl w a ~ putting pressure on Bonell o, while
Bonello wa s-loo king for a way around Buck,. as
th e th ree front-runners start ed to pull away
from She rred and the res t of th e pack.
For the next five lap s on the jump-filled sand
track. Buck would manage to keep a few feet
ahea d of Bonello, with Blomd ahl an equal di s·
tance behin d, ju st waiting for either rider to
make a mistake. TIle waiting paid off for Blomda hL as Bonello got a little ou t of sha pe off the
face of a jum p an d lost seco nd place . Blomdahl
th en latch pd o n to Bu ck' s back fender a nd

Bart Bast, who recentl y finished th ird in the 1m
u.s. National Speedway Qualifier se ries. rode
the Sideways Saturdays Speed way oval at th e
Dixon Fairgr ounds to perfection, winning the
1m Dixon Track Championship wit h a perfect
I S-po in t maxi mum.
In the initial ride of the first of thp five four~
hea t rou nds of scratch racing. Bas t gave a pre ~
view of things to come when he too k the three
poin ts and the wi n over Robert Curry and Clad
Felicio. Bob Hicks won the next race over Jimm y
Sisemore and Billy "Gpro n imo " Ja nniro, and
the n Pat Linn did the same to Kelly Bennett in
thp th ird heat. Rou nd one ended with Bast ta k~
ing an im porta nt win over Hicks in their only
h ead ~to-head mee ting of the night.
Sisemore and Hicks bo th got into the win column in th e oJX'ning rides of the secon d round.
Pat Linn continued his good night with another
win in his second rid e. Th e fina l heat of th e
round saw Bast with a good gate positi on and
the win over Sisemore in a closely wnttostt'd rare.
Hicks put an end to Linn 's perfect sco re in
the round·three opener. Cu rry followed up with
a win ov er Fplioo an d Bennett. Due to the inheren t strangeness of the l 2-rid er fonnat. Sisemore
found him.o;elf once again at the tapes with Bast
inside of h im. closer to the po le. The result mirrored their previous encounter, as Bast got the
wi n an d th ree po ints. Sisemore received tw o for
seco nd . and Unn's nigh t continued in th e wrong
direction wit h one point for third place .
'- Felicio opened. the fourth roun d with a grea t
ride and a win ov er Dave Faria, who had h i ~
fines t ride of th e meeting. Hicks, Sise more and
Bast to ok predic table wins to complete th e
rou nd. Ja nn iro, Benne tt and Fa ria cam e away
w ith second-p lace points.
In th e fina l ro u nd , Jan ni ro posted h is firs t
win of the night, using the outside to mai nta in
an advantage over Faria. Hicks finished up his
nig ht 's work with a win and an almos t perfect
14-poin t score. Sise m ore also fin ish ed strong
and took th rep poin ts to fini sh wi th 12 total.
Hicks' only hope for th e ove ra ll victory lay in
the se con d -to · last ride o f th e event , but Bast
ended h is hope s with a mis ta ke-free ride over
Faria and Steve Martynse. Janniro finished up
th e event with a win . bu t the resu lb were st:'t.
