a nd not rea lly think about it as a battl e
with Ricky or any thing," said Windham.
"I did so me things wrong w he n I was
ra ci n g with him a t Washouga l last
week, and I worked on so me thi ngs tha t
I wa nted to change this weekend if I got
into tha t sa me s itu a tio n . Th ere' s two
week s to go in the season and I'm still
going to giv e it ali i ca n."

the last double ju mp, but Windham held
t he faster , s ho r te r inside line and
claimed the exciting win.
'The first moto didn't go my way but
it was p r e tt y fu n , actuall y ," s a id
Carmichael. "Kevin and I batt led ba ck
a nd fo rth the w hole mo to and that's
what racing is a ll abou t. I d id n' t win,
but it was a g reat race to be part of. It
was one of the bes t races besides one of
Emig's and Dowd's ba ttles . I'm goi ng to
go get read y and come bac k strong next
time."
Ronca da to p ped Lamson fo r third
after fellow Ho nd a rid er Sheak lost his
footpeg halfway th rough and fell from
thi rd to 14th. Sellards was next w ith a
caree r-bes t sixth- pla ce finish.
" It was a g ood battle for me and
Steve and Scott u ntil somethi ng happened to hi m," sa id Ron cada . "I guess
there wa s a good ba ttle u p fro nt, so I'm
sorry tha t I missed that show. O nce I got
in to third, I was too far beh ind to really
thi nk abou t even try ing to ca tch them ."

moto, a head of Win dham, Carmichael,
Sheak and Chaparra l's Cha d Ped erson.
Wit hin a few comers, Ca rmichael blast ed into the lead , taking Wind ham with
him, and for a moment or tw. it seemed
like another great Carmichael /Windham duel was on. Instead , Carmichael
turned it int o a coronation rid e for his
new cro w n.
" I rod e my ow n race the seco nd tim e
a nd things wo rk ed out better for me,"
sa id Ca rmichael. "I knew in my head
that I ha d to ' Race the Track' (a favored
message on Ca rmichael's pi t boa rd ) and
not race Kevin. The track was great in
the second .rnoto because they smoothed
out so me lines , and it worked ou t great
for me ."
Windham rod e strong in seco nd but
he even tua lly fell as far as 15 seconds
behind hi s teenage nemesi s. La mson
was pretty far back in third, while Sheak
a nd an impressive Casey Johnson ran
fou rt h and fifth.
·" 1 rode sma r ter and bet ter , I fe lt
stro nge r, and I put myself righ t w he re I
w a n ted to be from th e s ta r t," sa id
Ca r mic hae l. " It w a s ju st a g o od day
wi th som e good racin g and it went my
wa y in the end."
"I just didn't fee l th e same as I did
the firs t time out," sa id W indham. "I
d on 't th ink he wa s goi ng any faster than
he wa s in the first moto, but I was going
slower. I could n't find my lines and he
go t away from me too ea rly. I rod e ha rd
an d I tried tLl the end , but I' m still d isappo inted ."
"Coming int o th is weekend, I knew
th a t I had just two mo re weekends to
wear thi s nu mbe r-one pla te and I would
rea lly like to go ou t wit h a wi n," said
Lamson. "Those gu ys we re just going a
little bi t fas te r tha n everyone el se ;
