Dubbed the "Triple Play," the three-day Fourth
of July Motocross event at Schott Enterprise's
Bull Ru n MotOC1"O"''1 Track proved to be a greet
opportunity for many NESC (N ew England
Sports Committee ) riders. AU!>tin Squires, a fiveyear veteran of the NESC and National outdoor
motocross circuit, eruoyed one of his best week rods of the st>aCond- to·last lap, Squires m ad e a
mistake. resulting in a pileup with Barton.

side," Squires explained . "I decided to try it. and
my fro nt end ca u gh t a bump th at turned th e
front w hPeI. It stood me up with the ba ck tire in
th e air. Pat was right behind me .:m d there w as

in th e Handicap main eve nt. while th e Scra tch
main win w ent to Bart "Sim pso n " Bast. New corne r Wad e Boyd too k the wi n in a wild second -division main, as did Bob Peeler s in th e
third-division final.
Bast. Jimmy Sisemore and Bobb y Hedden ,
started the five-lap handicap main from the 50yard line , while Chad Felicio, Dave Faria and
Chad's brother. Vance, started on the 3O-yard
. tn'pe. Chad was th e fiht to assume th e lead,
with Faria just behind, ru nning a slightly wid er ,
outside line . From the rear, Hedden got a gre at
gate and qUickly moved. up beh ind Vance Feli ·
cio by the end of the first lap_Bast had less luck
in the first lap, uncharacteristically sliding wide
in th", second se t of turns and putting himself
wa y off the pace_Meanwhile. Clad continued to
lead the rare, mo ving a fuw bike lengths ahead
of Faria,. who was losing ground on a spinning
back wh eel that wa s skipping across the dusty,
outside~line marbles . Van ce held on to third
until lap three. when Hedden moved. him off the
groove. Hl'dd en then wen t .on to displace Faria
from the nmner -up spot as well.
Chad Felicio m aintained h is lead over the
