Kentucky's Nicky Hayd en , who for the second night in a row won bot h the 250 and 600cc Pro-Am classes, gained su bstan tia lly mo re points toward his GN C Expert classification, where he has ea rned 90 points in 1L'SS than two weeks as a Pro-Am rider. Rex Fisher, of Wa rren, Oregon, wa s the fastest gu n in the Wes t, as he held off a flurry of advances from Paul Lynch a nd Billy Martin to take a w in in the abbrevia ted 600cc Expert main, which paid over $600 to win . Nevada's Scott Stum p held off Nebra ska's Dale jennema n and Lync h a fter a three- w ay swapfest to top the 750cc Expe rt main event , which [enneman initially led, but la te r yield ed to Lynch out of tu rn two for the top payoff. Some 63 AMA Pro s w er e on hand, with 23 Expe rts in the 600cc d ivi sion , an d 10 750cc rid ers, while the 600cc ProA m rid e rs n umbered 22. The low es t turnou t was in the 250cc Pro-Am class, where nine rid ers' d iced fo r top positions, w hich went the way of Kentucky' s Nicky Hayd en, w ho also won the 600cc Pro -A m m a in eve n t. Bill Hofmeister and Chris Boo ne were the di rect transfers ou t of the first of the three hea t races in Expert competition , as both maintained their positions fro m s ta r t to finish . Oregon' s Beau Brown led Billy Martin and FISher in the second hea t, but the two vetera ns qu ickly re lega ted the rookie Expert back a co uple of spots to net the tra nsfe rs. Lynch an d joe Kopp took the 1-2 spots in the loaded thir d heat, bu t Mike Hacker, the thi rd -p lace finisher, w oul d be semi-bound, as wou ld Dan Stanley .
