holesh o t, but Bartolini was seco nd and
hit the fro nt on la p two to run away at
two second s pe rlap for a clear-cut win.

good sta rt makes," Barl oli ni sa id. "I was
ju s t as fas t in th e fi rst m ot o an d go t
nothing."
Nico ll gave hearty chase for second
place, more than enoug h to ensu re that
the overa ll win was secure. Shayne King
was initiall y third, but that wou ld not
have been e no ug h to sa ve his cro w n
even before he hit tro uble aft er 30 minutes.
"I land ed ha rd off a jump, and m y
left thumb went numb," Shayne King
sa id . "I got a few blisters in the first race
and taped up my hand too tig ht. 1 go t
the feeling back a fte r a couple of laps,
but 1 wa s down to seve nth by then ."
And fifth was Smets, cru ising to the
title w hile his fathe r pleaded wi th his
s o n 's s u p p o r te rs - wh o ha d br o ke n
dow n fe nces to in va d e th e trac k - to
ma ke room a t the fini sh line fo r their
hero to cross the line.

was Parker.
"I felt I could win race two , but 1 too k
too lo ng to get th ro ug h to thi rd from
eighth on Jap one," Parker said.

"I guess we'll have to start welding it
on," Bowen said.
