1 _In the second roun d , Price used his 10-minute time limit to return to th e box, as he had d ifficulty starting his Harley. On ce back, Pric e used the far left side to start onto the hill. Jumping o ver the first clicker, he turned on the gas with the Harley squinning for traction, and Price tucked in for the rid e. He timed an awesome 6.1261, taking the top position and moving Steve Dresser into s econd p lace. Price's th ird ri de w a s smoot h and un eventful a nd too k only 6.4066 seconds to complete. The secondride time held up, however, and Price took his second Nationa l victory. "On the secon d ride, it la id over ther e and I just na iled it, laid back on the seat and it was right in there," Price said . " Eve r y t h in g we nt pretty w ell today. We're pretty happy." Steve Dresser of th e Pro USA team p ut forth his best effort in his first climb . Dresse r put together a straight line an d so me lo ft y jumps as h e p owered through the groove in the center of the hill. Squinning the IO-foot -Iong machine in to th e h ill of each of th e cl icke rs, Dresser blasted the top w ith a 6.4119 the fastest time of round one. After Price p us he d Dresser off th e b ubble, Dresser turned it on w ith hi s second rid e. Utilizing most if not all of the sus pension coming off th e fir st jump, Dresser had a big wheelie as the Harley came back up on the chain as the suspens io n re-exten ded . The bounce displaced his left foot. which he dangled while continuing to motor to the second clicker w ith the front wheel floatin g in the air. Returning the foot to the peg, Dresse r motored to the top wi th a slower time of 6.4410. Dresser's fi na l sho wing in ro un d three pr oduced a probl em-plagued ride . Exitin g clea nly out of the pit, Dresser ex perienced a fis h ta il pu sh fr om th e Harley, but rega ined control in time to dial it on fo r the second clicker . H e could n't make up for the lost time and settled for a slowe r, 7.7135-second ru n. Dr esser fini shed th ird overall, behind Teamma te James Large. "The third rid e was kin d of ju st a Sunday afte rnoo n in the pa rk - from one side of the hill to the other," Dresser said with a chuckle. "I guess I got side ways." Ji m "Jammer " Large p u t h is n ew fuel-injected Harl ey on the hill in a frenzy, only to fall apar t as he go t pu shed out of sha pe coming off the first jump. H e ende d up in the weed s on the left side of the tra ck at the 145-foot mark. The next run we nt better . Using a lot of body language, Large found the centerline of the groove and clocked a 6.9107 for his first completed climb of the day. He then we nt on to improve in the third roun d, despite a bounce over the second clicker, and hung on to card an impressive 6.3322 to steal seco nd place from Dresser. t:'\' All Slar Challenge J en erson, Pennsylvania Results: August 3, 1997 S4O«: 1.
