Local dirt track guru Tom Robe rtson sped to victory in the Vintage Twin final and the Over 50
cla e.. when Durelle Racing Promotions worked
in conjunction with the county fair board to host
th e Redwood Falls half mile .
After the heats, an o m inous thu nd e rstorm
loom e d overhead . The runnin g laps for the
finals were sho rtened in order to complete the
even ing's prcgrcm- The change became a factor

Richard Wickham used good starts and smoo th
rid ing to weather the compclition and win the

Y3m.1ha MX De aler Series at Cl en Helen Raceway .
Kevin Cahan led the charge into the fir st
tum and he ld the lead position through the first
lap..Rig ht behind in a tight freight-tr ain forma tio n were Charles Hachtel, W ickham, Justi n
Gutierrez and Danny Cooper. Wickham mo ved
around Hach tel in the sa n d y whoop se ction
befo re co ming back onto the start str a ightaway.
As th e leade rs made th eir wa y ou t of "Bud 's
C re e k," Gah a n was no w being h ou n d e d by
Wickh am . They were si de by side in the series
of two tabletops, but Wickha m held the ins ide
lin e o n the hard left-ha nd Co rn e r, ta kin g th e
lead . But that was onl y tt'm po ra ry, as Gahan got
back around Wickh am as they dropped into th e
sand pit, with Ha chtel sti ll in contention. sitt ing
third.

by.

second wen t to Hachtel end third to Gahan.- who

Ha chtel pull ed the holeshot (or th e second
mcto, foll ow ed by Franklin Zeigler, Wickham.
Jeff Eide and Kane Jam eso n . Wickham moved
into seco nd by passing Zeigler on the ins ide of a
tum. Hachtel had about a l ~bile-lt:"llgth advantage on second, but it wa s all lost as Wickham
closed the ga p on lap two. W ickham tried the
inside move on th e tablet op s, but got shut dow n
by Ha chtel. Wickh am tried. to ou td rive Ha ch tel
from the outsid e in the sa nd pit - but there wa s
not eno ugh ro o m . It fina lly happened on th e
lo nger sa n d y whoop sect io n. Wickham had
en ough rea l estatt.' to pass Hacht el and lake the
lead . Eide used the same section to overtake Zeigle r fo r third. Zeigl er woul d fall later in the
!lame lap a nd. faU ou t of contention. Eide tried. to
carry his momentum around H a chte l, but he
