The dusty co ndi tio ns made things
difficult for the riders in midpack.
"I know the track gu ys are tryin g to
do the best they can, but it was so silty
that my goggles wouldn' t stay clean ,"
Drew said . "I didn't want to go down."
The racin g action was close and tight
- except for Kales, who was sailing out
in front. Healey passed Myers for second , while Smail was having a frustratin g tim e tryi ng to get around Abbott
a nd Naughto n . No t far behind the m

banging handlebars.
With three laps to go, Ka los was
enjoying a hu ge IS-secon d lead on the
H eal e y / Mye rs battle, fo ll ow e d by
Na ug h to n, Smail and Ab bott. Pretty
soo n, Sma il h a d ca ug ht a nd passed
Na ughton for fourth. Then Smail continued his drive on third -placed Myers an d
began pressuring him . Smail railed the
ou tside arou nd Myers and Naug hton
tried to follow him a round the ATK
rider, bu t couldn't make the pass.
In the end, it was Kalos taking his
second win of the day, followed by
Hea ley, Smail, Myers and Naughton.
For being the top finisher on a 455cc
ma chine or less, Healey pocketed the
$500 that was up for grabs from IMS. ,~
