That's about all there is to it. 883 NATIONAL TCR wasn 't the only Gran d National te am to put in a d o m in a ti ng perf o rmance at the Sedalia Half Mile, as 1-800FASTHOG /Moron ey' s Harley-Da vid so n teammates Mike Hac ker and Davey Camlin got into a shootout of their own d ur ing the 12-lap AMA Ha rley-Davidso n 883 Na tional. Las Vegas H-D/ American Asp halt & Gradi ng' s Jess Roed er got the holesh ot in th e main eve nt, and looked unstoppable for the first seven laps before the two Moroney' s riders un ceremoni ous ly dumped him to third place on the back stra ight in the most action -packed lap of the race. Hacker caught Roeder with an inside move as the pai r hea ded d own the chute, an d appeared set to tak e the lead, bu t the third -placed Camlin pulled o ff a sur prise d oub le pa ss to ta ke the point a s th e trio s k it tered into tu rn three. "I jus t made one mistake, and they got by me: ' Roeder said. "I gam bled on shutting off ea rly and trying to get back u nder Mik e, a nd I d idn' t know th at Davey was ther e. If I had , I wo uld n't have d on e that. 'After that, I tried the h igh lin e, and it d idn't work, so I just d ropped to the bottom and too k third. At least th at' s b e tt er tha n last yea r, when I cras hed here." The pass did n' t sit well wit h the com p et iti ve Hacker, a nd the for me r 883 se ries cha mp ion actually mad e contact with Ca mlin as he made a pass to lead lap nine. But Ca mlin, already a two-ti me winner in the series thus far, had th e measure of Hacker, and moved aro un d one lap later for good. Camlin then conti nued to pull away to a comfor table margin at the finish for his third win of th e season. Hacker was second . Roeder was third. "Mike set that one up:' Camlin said of h is d ouble pass. " Roeder got sidew ays and moved up coming off of two.
